Senior Estimator

Responsibilities

• Cook up, coordinate, and craft cost estimates that meet internal and external standards
• Participate in proposal activities for both Blue Origin’s commercial and government clients
• Build cost estimates for various internal research and development projects
• Generate cost estimates for all Blue Origin product lines, including:
  • Liquid rocket propulsion
  • Suborbital launch services
  • Orbital launch services
  • Lunar landing services
  • In-space applications
• Handle multiple estimating tasks simultaneously, involving diverse stakeholders and varying project scopes
• Write Basis of Estimate (BOE) narratives to explain the reasoning behind cost estimates
• Collaborate with a team of cost professionals to produce high-quality estimates
• Contribute to the enhancement of estimating methods and procedures as Blue Origin expands

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 10+ years of experience
• In-depth knowledge of FAR, DFARS, NFS, Business Systems Criteria, and other US Government regulations
• Ability to comprehend proposal documents such as RFPs, SOWs, and customer-provided cost-related materials
• Advanced proficiency in creating cost estimates, proformas, and business models
• A strong drive to improve processes and mentor colleagues
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• The ability to build trust, foster positive relationships, and promote an inclusive environment
• Desired: Experience in aerospace, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or similar fields
• Expertise in building estimating, pricing, and cost management models and using industry-standard tools
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the ability to interpret complex Excel models
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or lawful admission as a refugee/asylum seeker, with a current TS/SCI clearance
