This position is the third level in our Estimating track, focused on residential, commercial, and industrial lines of business.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate scopes with minimal over/under scopes
- Develop accurate floor plans and multi-level/roof sketches in Xactimate Sketch
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable building codes
- Create and adhere to acceptable budgets, addressing overages as they arise
- Use the BELFOR naming convention for estimates, revised estimates, proposals, change orders, etc.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all local building codes
- Maintain a construction schedule and collaborate with trades and management to ensure timely completion
- Identify and present solutions when additional resources are needed
- Demonstrate proficiency with source removal, decontamination, mitigation, containment, ventilation, contents, and deodorization techniques
- Proficient with investigative demolition, controlled demolition, decontamination structure cleaning, and deodorization services
- Participate in continued training with BELFOR University, including Xactimate training for Estimator Level 1, 2, or 3 User Certification (passing score: 85%)
- Independently manage own work
- Maintain vehicle safety and cleanliness, including regular inspections
- Complete all accident, injury, and incident reporting forms in a timely manner
- Apply strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Assist in developing and improving industry standards to establish Belfor USA Group, Inc as a world-class leader
- Comply with company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards
- Expand and maintain local clientele, primarily insurance adjusters, with a book of business of approximately $2M–$4M
- Serve as primary contact with owners, adjusters, and consultants
- Develop scopes, negotiate, and reach agreements with customers
- Use BELFOR standard formatting for estimates
- Coordinate after-hours emergency services, including board-ups, water damage, fire and smoke damage, and vandalism
- Consistently identify potential site hazards (asbestos, lead paint, mold, etc.)
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, proactively conveying information and responding promptly to requests
- Apply industry TPA Program standards and ensure compliance
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
- Demonstrate attention to detail and safeguard other people’s property and information
- Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Construction, Restoration, or Contents Estimating
- Residential estimating experience in excess of $50,000 and Commercial estimating experience up to $100,000
- Successful completion of BELFOR Estimating Platform Level 1 and 2 user certification
- Successful completion of Xactimate Intermediate training class
- National rate and material invoicing experience
- English literacy and fluency
- Understanding of MSDS Data sheets and their applicability to jobs
- Use of BELFOR Estimate Format Standards for Xactimate estimates, proposals, etc.
- Extensive customer service experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience with Xactimate
- Professional demeanor and appearance, excellent telephone skills
- Ability to work well with others and maintain professional interactions with co-workers and vendors
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting over 50 lbs unassisted
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks
- Ability to bend, crouch, or stand as necessary
