Senior ESH Trainer
Job Summary
The Senior ESH Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and continuously improving Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) training programs that support regulatory compliance, workforce readiness, and effective field execution across construction operations.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver ESH training courses aligned with project requirements, Bechtel procedures, regulatory obligations, and applicable client standards.
- Facilitate onboarding, orientation, refresher, and task-specific ESH training for craft, field supervision, subcontractors, and professional staff.
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional techniques to improve learner engagement, knowledge retention, and practical application in the field.
- Support development of training content addressing project-specific hazards, including high-risk work activities, hazardous chemicals, work at heights, confined space entry, energy isolation, cleanroom interfaces, and simultaneous operations.
- Collaborate with ESH, construction, field engineering, quality, and subcontractor teams to identify training needs and develop targeted learning solutions.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, field observations, assessment results, incident trends, and performance data; recommend updates to improve training outcomes.
- Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, completion data, and certification documentation to support audit readiness and compliance verification.
- Prepare and maintain learning materials, presentations, handouts, practical exercises, assessments, job aids, and other training resources.
- Deliver field-based coaching and support to reinforce safe work practices, hazard recognition, stop-work authority, and expected ESH behaviors.
- Support Behavior-Based Safety, craft engagement, leadership, and other ESH culture-building initiatives through effective training and communication.
- Respond to specialized training requests and support employee development needs related to ESH technical and administrative subjects.
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance training content, delivery methods, learner experience, and field application.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, industrial hygiene, training, education, instructional design, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in ESH training, safety training, construction training, or relevant technical teaching experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Experience delivering ESH training in construction, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, data center, industrial, or similarly complex project environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical training for diverse audiences, including craft professionals, field supervisors, subcontractors, and professional staff.
- Specialized training knowledge and practical experience applicable to ESH disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, ESH standards, company procedures, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical ESH requirements clearly and effectively to varied audiences.
- Ability to adapt training content and delivery methods in response to changing scope, schedule pressures, workforce needs, and evolving project risk.
- Ability to develop engaging training materials and deliver classroom, field-based, and practical hands-on training sessions effectively.
- Computer skills for preparing presentations, maintaining training records, managing data, and preparing reports.
- Adaptable to work in a training facility and outdoors in a field environment, support multiple shifts, and travel or relocate as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
Additional Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest, training, and experience in applied sciences, adult learning, and workplace training.
- Previous experience developing or delivering ESH technical, regulatory, and administrative training subjects.
- Broad technical knowledge, strong technical writing skills, and effective classroom and field teaching abilities.
- Experience using learning management systems, training databases, digital learning tools, or other technology to support training delivery and recordkeeping.
