About the role

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist / Ecologist to join our EP&P team in our Sewickley, PA office. This is a client-facing role where you will lead field teams, prepare technical reports and permitting applications, manage environmental tasks in project schedules, and coordinate with internal and external groups to complete project goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead field teams in wetland delineations, site assessments, environmental inspections, endangered species surveys, habitat assessments, and other studies.
• Prepare technical reports and permitting applications for federal, state, and local entities.
• Manage environmental tasks within project schedules and coordinate with internal and external groups to meet project goals.
• Convey project-related information to a variety of clients.
• Perform technical writing for permitting, environmental task management, and field efforts.

Requirements

• 7-15 years of consulting experience.
• Experience conducting wetland delineations in accordance with the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and supporting Regional Supplements.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding and experience preparing Section 404, 10, and 401 WQC permits.
• Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, specifically pertaining to wetlands and listed wildlife species.
• Ability to work flexible schedules and meet priority deadlines outside of normal working hours.
• A valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• BS in Environmental, Biological, or Ecological Science, or Environmental Policy; Master’s in a relevant field is a plus.
• 40-hour USACE wetland training.

Skills

• Plant and wildlife identification skills and survey/permitting protocols.
• Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Experience operating GPS units under ArcGIS or Terrasync programs.
• Experience in ArcGIS or AutoCAD.
• Ability to conduct work year-round in adverse climate and field conditions.
• Ability to prioritize effort and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience developing and completing Threatened and Endangered species surveys and coordination with the USFWS.
