Senior Environmental Planner (Environmental Planner 4)

About the role

The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) within the Department of Ecology is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner (Environmental Planner 4) to join the Headquarters Cleanup Section. This position is based in Lacey, WA, and requires a commutable distance from the duty station. The ideal candidate will manage and collaborate on cleanup projects, including those involving Department of Defense sites and Puget Sound Initiative Cleanup Sites and Bays.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engage, involve, and collaborate with stakeholders, environmental groups, local governments, and tribal governments on cleanup projects.
• Identify, plan for, and develop solutions to issues involving cleanups to ensure efficient and effective processes.
• Ensure the implementation of cultural resource policies, procedures, and guidance for the program, the Department of Ecology, and the state.
• Work with Cultural Resource Specialists, site managers, and tribes to implement these policies accurately at cleanup sites.

Requirements

• Experience in environmental planning and management.
• Knowledge of cultural resource policies and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and local governments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in environmental planning and management.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Manager (CEM).

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
