About the Role

Epic Games is looking for experienced Senior Environment Artists to help build several initiatives as part of our collaboration with Disney. Our Senior Environment Artists are highly talented, creative, and versatile individuals who build the aesthetically groundbreaking and technically advanced environments used in our games. In this role, you will work directly with a world-class art team to help create exciting and compelling environments and own points of interest that will invite the player to discover and explore.

Responsibilities

  • Take basic game designs and concept art, utilize Unreal Engine, and bring new points of interest to life by collaborating with a variety of stakeholders as an environment art point of contact.
  • Work closely with Leads and Production to ensure high-quality delivery of work through tasking and prioritizing deliverables, driving creative conversation with your level design partner, and maintaining clear and open lines of communication.
  • Contribute to ideation and build prototypes for both environmental sets and environmental gameplay needs during pre-production to ensure team success throughout the upcoming production cycle.
  • Build and texture assets, focusing on architectural and thematic sets, that Level Design will use to dress the environments.
  • Demonstrate expertise in 3D asset creation using DCC tools such as 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, or ZBrush. Show strong knowledge of baking and texturing tools like Marmoset, Substance Painter, and Designer to develop assets in a high-to-low poly baking process, utilizing tileable textures, trim sheets, unique unwraps, and displacement map creation.
  • Understand performance constraints and develop for multiple platforms.
  • Provide mentorship to other Environment Artists, strengthen the team through individual guidance, create tutorials and documentation, and lead by example to set and raise our high bar of quality and timeliness.

Requirements

  • At minimum, 5 years of professional experience in the video game industry building environments and assets for shipped titles.
  • At minimum, 3 shipped titles which exhibit AAA game quality art.
  • Online portfolio of previous professional and personal work.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Benefits

  • 100% coverage of premiums for medical, dental, and vision for you and your dependents.
  • Vision HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement).
  • Long-term disability and life insurance.
  • 401k with competitive match.
  • Robust mental well-being program through Modern Health, offering free therapy and coaching for employees and dependents.
  • Unlimited PTO and sick time.
  • Company-wide paid breaks and events throughout the year.
  • Paid sabbatical after 7 years of employment.
