Senior Envionrmental Specialist
About the role
We have partnered with a leading construction company growing their Solar group, and we're looking for a Senior Environmental Specialist to lead environmental management efforts across our solar project worksites. Protect the land, water, and air on utility-scale solar projects - and help build environmental programs that set the standard.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the environmental program at each work site
- Partner with the project management team to build and execute site-specific environmental plans
- Lead project planning and environmental risk analysis
- Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractors
- Monitor trade partner work plans for environmental concerns and ensure regulatory compliance
- Develop and lead environmental orientation and training programs
- Lead work site environmental inspections and track violations or non-compliance conditions
- Collaborate with customers, consultants, and regulators on Federal, State, Provincial, and Local reporting requirements
- Support the Project Manager in managing the project's environmental budget
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field
- Significant 8+ years of relevant experience
- Experience managing hazardous waste and contamination compliance
- Experience with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
- Experience with endangered species, erosion prevention, and sediment control
- Natural gas or oil industry experience preferred
- Deep understanding of Federal, State, Provincial, and local environmental laws and procedures
- Comfortable reviewing designs and using standard PC/tablet software (Excel, Word)
- Current driver's license and willingness to travel 100%

- Leadership experience, even on a project-by-project basis is an advantage

- Knowledge of natural gas or oil industry practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and lead environmental programs
- Proficiency in standard PC/tablet software (Excel, Word)

Pay
Circa $120,000 plus per diem, travel, accommodation and more
Schedule
3 weeks on, 1 week off
Rotation
Travel is US wide depending on projects, however they are concentrated in AZ, TX, or CO, and the first 6 months is highly likely to be in Texas. Project lengths are typically 6 months or more and the rotation pattern is 3 weeks on site and then 1 week off.
