About the Role
This position conducts detailed analysis to advance one or more Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs, helping CoBank manage credit, market, and operational risks. Programs include Risk Assessment, Product Governance, Portfolio Analytics, Risk Governance, Derivative Risk Modeling, and Model Risk Management. The role supports bank-wide initiatives through risk identification and quantification.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evolve risk metrics for the bank, creating and enhancing reports for key stakeholders.
- Own one or more ERM processes, models, or reports, and manage project plans to drive bank initiatives.
- Utilize data to support risk-based decision-making.
- Source, clean, and prepare data for formal and informal processes by determining business rules.
- Query, aggregate, and manipulate large datasets to transform information into key business insights.
- Design efficient, regulation-compliant department/system processes for Risk Management.
- Lead change implementation and prepare related training materials.
- Adhere to best practices in modeling and model risk management (e.g., parameterize and calibrate forecasting models, monitor model assumptions, develop and update documentation).
- Provide technical and business subject matter expertise, including ad-hoc analysis that may become standard for the bank.
- Monitor data integrity and model risk controls execution, identifying risks and proactively solving problems.
- Create executive-level packages and presentations for risk committees and working groups.
- Initiate and lead discussions and meetings, preparing and delivering formal presentations to key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or a relevant discipline (required).
- Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- FRM and/or CFA certification (preferred).
- 6 years of financial risk management or related experience (required).
- 3 years of experience with statistical and/or database software packages such as SAS, R, Python, SQL, or Matlab (required).
- Proactive approach with strong analytical, reasoning, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical risk data into clear, actionable reports or dashboards for executive boards.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills to assess complex datasets and model potential outcomes.
- Proven capacity to balance concurrent responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with risk management platforms, data visualization tools (e.g., QRM, Tableau, Power BI), and advanced Excel.
Schedule
This is a sedentary role involving occasional physical exertion (e.g., lifting up to 10 pounds). Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with brief periods of walking or standing. Occasional travel (typically once a month or less) is required.
Pay
The typical base pay range for this role is $110,000 – $135,300, with eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program based on individual and organizational performance.
