Position Summary

The Senior Technology and Applications Enterprise Architect reviews current and potential technologies, standards, applications, and systems to ensure the appropriate and successful use of technology in support of transforming Arch into an AI-centric enterprise. They are strong enterprise architects with broad domain experience in AI, cloud application architecture, business, data, and security constructs. This individual contributor role supports IT governance oversight alongside driving transformative initiatives across enterprise functions and application ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the Application and Technology (Application and Systems technologies) domains for Arch and helps drive the organization's assets from the current state to target state architecture.
  • Maintains subject matter expertise in broad enterprise-wide application technologies to drive transformation across a wide spectrum of enterprise capabilities in an insurance and financial application ecosystem.
  • Collaborates with members of IT to review and assess the architecture of Products, Systems, or Applications for compliance to existing standards, guidelines, or best practices.
  • Collaborates with other Enterprise Architects, Domain Owners and APMs (Agile Program Managers) to ensure that any recommendations or approaches will align well from an Application, Infrastructure, and Data perspective.
  • Performs in-depth technical analysis, research, proof of concepts, and evaluations as required to validate that the recommendations Enterprise Architecture makes are sound and will not introduce risk into IT Execution.
  • Maintains an understanding of long-term company strategy and ensures that designs will enable the company to meet the changing industry/competitive demands.
  • Reviews Systems, Applications, or Products and provides recommendations for improvements that will enhance the alignment to standards, best practices, or guidelines.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture and other members of the wider Arch IT team to define architecture standards that drive business capabilities and optimization to create efficiency, quality, and agility.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, and influence teams to do what is best for Arch without direct reporting responsibility.
  • Prepares presentations, documents, diagrams, models, and other artefacts as required to communicate analysis, recommendations, or designs.
  • Communicates with stakeholders at varying levels within the organization to drive our use of technology forward.
  • Analyses collected data to identify what contributed to performance positively or negatively to foster a culture of continuous improvement and to drive to outcomes.
  • Coordinates, projects, and activities to ensure they are completed on time with limited supervision from management.
  • Supports Enterprise Architecture Governance and activities across multiple business units in a federated enterprise architecture model.
  • Manages Enterprise Technology and application governance data, best practices, and guidelines documentation and repository structures.
  • Demonstrates AI literacy, including an understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use cases within IT work.
  • Works effectively in AI-augmented workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams and continuously improving processes through responsible AI adoption.

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge & Skills: Typically acquired through a technology degree and 15+ years of related experience in software development, systems design & delivery. Prior experience and accountability for system and applications architectures at the enterprise level is required.
  • Communication Skills: Extremely strong and sophisticated communication skills to communicate, collaborate, and build consensus across diverse groups of strong-willed technologists.
  • Enterprise Technology & Application Architecture Experience: Broad experience with ability to quickly analyze and solve new technologies and applications.
  • Cloud Technologies: Extensive experience with cloud technologies for applications (Azure mandatory with optional AWS), along with good security and infrastructure understanding in the context of applications and SaaS software.
  • Enterprise Architect or Senior Solution Architect Role: Prior experience as an Enterprise Architect or senior solution architect for a large domain in a medium to large organization, with strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Software Development & Delivery Background: A software development and delivery background is a mandatory precursor to a technological career with increasing technical responsibility.
  • Data, Networks, Security, Cloud Understanding: Broad understanding of the interplay of data, networks, security, cloud.
  • Learning & Adaptability: Ability to learn quickly and contribute across various parallel work streams.
  • AI Literacy & Expertise: Strong understanding of AI technologies and their practical application across enterprise IT, including end-user productivity, SDLC, corporate functions, and operating models. Strong understanding of how enterprise AI solutions are architected, including model access, orchestration layers, enterprise knowledge grounding, APIs, security controls, logging, and governed release processes.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate AI architecture concepts, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence decisions without direct authority.
  • Enterprise Architecture Governance: Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture Governance data, metrics, and dashboards.

Benefits

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible. For NY/NJ: $200,000 - $235,000/year $175,-$215k Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
