Senior Engineering Technician - Bridge Design

Responsibilities

• Works with a team of surveyors, project managers, engineers and technicians to perform routine to complex drafting assignments for structural engineering projects.
• Utilizes AutoCAD, Revit, structural analysis and other software to draft/design projects focusing on buildings, retaining walls, foundations, and other structures.
• Transfers information from other team members into Computer Aided Drafting software programs and applies appropriate symbols and drafting standards to create a quality finished product.
• Works with engineers or designers on full plan development, prepares drawings from rough sketches or interpretation of field notes, and assists in documenting field conditions for eventual reproduction in drawings.
• Interprets “as-built” and redline information and makes appropriate revisions to plans, manages drafting work, and interfaces with other disciplines as needed.
• Aids in the development, modification, and application of three-dimensional models in the appropriate design software.
• Assists with proposal preparations and fee development, typically handling multiple projects for multiple clients simultaneously.
• May assist Project Engineer/Project Manager with feasibility studies/layout work of complex structures.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and abilities in AutoCAD, Revit and structural analysis software.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Highly motivated with effective communication skills.
• Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
• Good math skills (ability to: add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent listening and reading skills, including proofreading.
• Good time management skills with ability to handle complex deadline-driven workload.
• Ability to work independently and also in a team of professionals.
• Ability to embrace new technology and processes.
• Knowledge of structural design.
• Experience in one or all of the following: Concrete Masonry, Steel, Timber.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent required. A 2-year technical degree in design and drafting or civil engineering technology preferred.

Experience

4+ years drafting experience required. AutoCAD and MS Office knowledge/experience required. Experience using Revit and structural analysis software are preferred.

Travel Expectations

Must be able to travel in-state and out-of-state on occasion, which usually would consist of visiting the outlying locations, attending seminars or business meetings. Expected travel is 10-20% of the time depending on projects.

Pay

An offer is contingent upon successfully passing the pre-employment drug screen. Drug screen will need to complete within 48 hours of being contacted. Nearly all positions at Bartlett & West can require employee-owners to operate a motor vehicle on public roads in the course of their duties. Accordingly, all employees may be required to have acceptable driving records and to provide an authorization to the Company to periodically obtain MVR reports.
