Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of diverse engineers and designers while staying actively involved as a project engineer.
  • Carefully coordinate the day-to-day operations of the engineering team, ensuring smooth workflow and timely project delivery by assigning work, balancing resources, and monitoring progress across multiple projects.
  • Act as a hands-on leader—offering technical guidance, clearing obstacles, and making sure internal teams stay aligned.
  • Lead and support a blended team of onsite engineers and offshore contract engineers, ensuring alignment, accountability, and consistent engineering standards.
  • Act as the technical lead on new and existing projects, delegating tasks, prioritizing resources, and resolving technical and scheduling roadblocks.
  • Remain actively engaged as a working supervisor, contributing as a project engineer while mentoring, troubleshooting, and supporting the team as needed.
  • Validate that engineering builds align with customer specifications, applicable codes, and internal standards; partner with Project Management or customers to clarify requirements when necessary.
  • Review and approve builds for consistency, manufacturability, and functional performance.
  • Lead build review meetings to communicate project scope, expectations, and technical direction.
  • Interact with customers as needed on project specifications and updates, and relay changing requirements back to the engineering team.
  • Act as a liaison between Engineering, Project Management, Production, Supply Chain, Sales, and other internal collaborators to ensure alignment in implementation.
  • Capture feedback from manufacturing and production teams to drive development for manufacturability and assembly improvements.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) as required.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives passionate about efficiency, standardization, and timely delivery.
  • Support potential R&D initiatives, customer-focused engineering updates, and build standardization efforts.
  • Build a strong team culture that supports professional development, mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent engineering field required, preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical team leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in electrical distribution, control, or automation systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution systems and related standards.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to remain hands-on while effectively delegating, following up on tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, redistribute work as needed, and lead teams through ambiguity.
  • Strong ability to present technical information clearly to both internal and external collaborators.
  • Experience with Creo, AutoCAD Electrical, PLC systems, and Oracle (or similar ERP's) preferred.

Pay

Pay Transparency: nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range $76,000.00 - $141,100.00 Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
