Senior Engineering Manager - Controls
About the Role
Systems Engineering is a cross-functional technical discipline focused on an approach, mindset, and process that considers both business and technical customer needs to deliver a quality product meeting user requirements. This role involves implementing a robust process for designing, building, and optimizing systems—from identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating alternative system design concepts, conducting design trade-off studies, selecting and implementing the best designs, to verifying proper integration and execution. The process spans from concept through production to operation, impacting the team's ability to achieve service, quality, and timeliness goals. The role operates under operational policy objectives with moderate autonomy and requires a high degree of operational judgment to achieve desired outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, evaluate, introduce, and manage engineering solutions for product and control system technology requirements.
- Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems with desired behaviors, including operability, boundary setting, cycle optimization, control logic, control-related software, sensors, hardware and software algorithms, and feedback to control equipment, subsystem, and system performance.
- Influence strategy development within the responsibility area, including resource control and policy formulation.
- Lead a small to medium team of experienced professionals and others.
- Evaluate simple internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Stay informed about industry trends that can inform work.
- Use a high degree of judgment to make decisions and solve complex tasks or problems in operations, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
- Assess the quality of provided information and ask relevant questions to stakeholders.
- Propose new solutions for problems outside established parameters and create and deliver recommendations.
- Use multiple internal and some external sources outside the function to make decisions.
- Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource needs, risk, and/or moderate complexity.
- Communicate difficult concepts and influence others' options on specific topics.
- Guide others to adopt a different viewpoint.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in systems engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge level comparable to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

Pay
For candidates applying to a U.S.-based position, the pay range is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility includes a discretionary annual bonus.
