About the Opportunity

The Senior Engineering Manager leads one to two engineering teams responsible for delivering product capabilities while maintaining long-term technical health and team development. This role balances feature delivery with platform stability, promotes scalable and pragmatic engineering practices, and builds a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage one to two engineering teams consisting of approximately 4–10 engineers.
• Oversee the full talent lifecycle, including hiring, retention, development, coaching, and performance management.
• Partner strategically with Product Management to balance new feature development with technical maintenance and platform health.
• Lead design reviews and promote simple, scalable, and pragmatic technical solutions.
• Apply Agile methodologies to deliver customer value through frequent and iterative development cycles.
• Maintain high engineering standards for test-driven development, continuous integration and delivery, code quality, and automation.
• Identify and remove technical and organizational blockers to ensure teams achieve sprint goals.
• Mentor engineers and foster an environment of autonomy, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Promote effective engineering practices across distributed teams and cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a player/coach with strong emotional intelligence and demonstrated engineering team leadership.
• Deep technical expertise with an emphasis on simplicity, pragmatism, and maintainable solutions.
• Leadership approach focused on providing context and autonomy rather than excessive oversight or control.
• Experience mentoring and developing diverse engineering teams.
• Strong commitment to engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, and strong test coverage.
• Experience managing engineering teams and working with modern technology stacks.
• Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools such as Jira, Slack, and Zoom.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and experience working with distributed engineering teams.
• Experience with enterprise web products, distributed systems, mobile development, or hardware integrations is advantageous.
• Interest in technology challenges within the hospitality and restaurant industry is a plus.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

• Annual base compensation range of $145,000–$180,000.
• Estimated total cash compensation, including base salary and variable compensation, of $163,125–$202,500.
• Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, education, location, and other relevant factors.
