About The Role

AI Teammates are agents designed to work alongside Asana users, performing tasks like bug triaging, request handling, and project management. Unlike traditional chatbots, AI Teammates are built to remember context and improve over time through continuous learning and feedback loops. Currently, AI Teammates are operational with major corporations, marking a significant shift in how Asana integrates artificial intelligence into its platform.

What You’ll Achieve

• Lead and grow the AI Teammates Platform team of ~8 senior engineers, setting technical direction and driving execution on core AI agent capabilities.
• Own the technical vision for the execution engine, including model integration, proactive agent behavior, and evaluation infrastructure.
• Drive the team’s model upgrade pipeline by evaluating new LLMs and balancing execution quality against latency and cost.
• Build and maintain the platform that enables other Asana engineering teams to build AI-powered features on top of AI Teammates.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to define and execute roadmap priorities that support Asana’s top company priority.
• Collaborate with peer teams like Agent Orchestration and AI Chat on shared infrastructure, APIs, and cross-team initiatives.
• Drive team delivery pace and improve engineering velocity while championing the adoption of AI coding tools.
• Attract, retain, and develop exceptional senior engineering talent in a highly competitive market.

AI Teammates are central to this effort, transforming Asana from a work-tracking tool to a powerful work-execution platform. The AI Teammates Platform is responsible for the execution engine and capability layer that powers these agents.

About The Team

The AI Teammates Platform team manages the execution engine and capability layer, focusing on model integration, proactive agent behavior, and evaluation infrastructure. The team also oversees the platform that allows other Asana engineering teams to build AI-powered features on top of AI Teammates. Collaboration with peer teams like Agent Orchestration and AI Chat ensures seamless integration and shared infrastructure.

What We’ll Offer

• Comprehensive compensation package reflecting the value created relative to market value.
• Market-based base salaries ranging from $264,000 to $300,000, with additional components like equity, sales incentive pay, and benefits.
