Senior Engineering Designer- Water & Wastewater

About the role
As the Senior Engineering Designer for Water & Wastewater, you will provide technical support to experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams during the planning, design, and development of regional municipal, industrial, and commercial projects. Reporting to a licensed Professional Engineer or Project Manager, this role works independently on moderately complex to complex projects ranging from moderate to large in size, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design models, engineering plans, and documents using Civil 3D.
- Follow Corporate Civil CAD Standards while creating design drawings.
- Collaborate with other CPL disciplines on projects as necessary.
- Research, evaluate, and execute appropriate engineering techniques and code provisions for a wide range of projects with unique needs.
- Prepare conceptual drawings and report graphics.
- Observe and report on construction activities.
- Ensure that submittal drawings are accurate, consistent, and follow standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of four (4) years of civil/municipal engineering experience.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to periodically use your own vehicle for travel to job sites (mileage reimbursable).
- Ability to perform moderately difficult technical computations and consolidate acquired data.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D tools including Grading, Alignments, Profiles, Corridors, and Pipe Networks; ability to pass an intermediate online assessment.
- Working knowledge of HydroCAD, Sewer GEMS, Water GEMS, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness and initiative to continually improve engineering and CAD skills, whether independently or via CPL's learning management system (LMS).
- Ability to comprehend and carry out oral or written instructions.
Proof of prior Civil 3D course completion is a plus.

Pay
The rate for this position generally ranges between $32.00–$41.00 hourly, based on factors such as location, experience, and operational needs. This range is provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law and assumes the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York may receive different compensation.
