EngineeringFull-time

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design replaces traditional designs, offering the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

About the Role

The Senior/Staff Mechanical Engineer – Fixed Equipment & Piping Integrity is responsible for providing technical engineering support for the integrity, reliability, and regulatory compliance of fixed equipment and associated piping systems. The role applies deep fixed equipment knowledge, inspection data, process information, materials and corrosion expertise, and risk-based methodologies to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations.

The incumbent will serve as a technical lead for fixed equipment and piping integrity matters, translating inspection, PCMS, corrosion, process, and operating data into actionable engineering recommendations. This includes developing inspection and repair strategies, supporting risk-based inspection programs, performing Level 1 and Level 2 fitness-for-service assessments, facilitating specialist Level 3 assessments, and leading cross-functional troubleshooting and improvement activities. The role is expected to mentor engineers, support compliance with company and industry standards, and provide technically sound recommendations that improve asset availability, mechanical integrity, and process safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced engineering support for pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, tanks, pressure relief-related fixed equipment interfaces, and associated static equipment.
  • Interpret inspection results, PCMS data, corrosion data, process conditions, operating history, and equipment condition information to determine appropriate engineering actions.
  • Develop, review, and recommend inspection plans using risk-based inspection principles, equipment criticality, damage mechanism reviews, inspection history, and operating risk.
  • Support the development and maintenance of corrosion control documents, condition monitoring locations, integrity operating windows, and equipment integrity strategies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage fixed equipment damage mechanisms, including corrosion under insulation, dead legs, erosion, fatigue, cracking, metallurgical degradation, external corrosion, coating failure, and other relevant degradation threats.
  • Recommend inspection, monitoring, repair, replacement, and mitigation strategies to maintain equipment integrity and support continued safe operation.
  • Develop engineering recommendations for continued operation, rerating, repair, replacement, monitoring, or inspection interval adjustment.
  • Support lifecycle planning for fixed equipment and piping by identifying end-of-life risks, obsolescence concerns, recurring degradation, and long-term integrity threats.
  • Provide input into turnaround scopes, outage planning, inspection deferrals, temporary repair evaluations, and long-term capital replacement strategies.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of materials, metallurgy, corrosion mechanisms, and process conditions to predict, prevent, and manage equipment degradation.
  • Support the development and implementation of corrosion mitigation strategies, including material selection, chemical treatment interfaces, coatings, insulation practices, cathodic protection, and inspection monitoring.
  • Provide technical oversight for painting, coating, insulation, corrosion under insulation, and cathodic protection programs associated with fixed equipment and piping systems.
  • Review material specifications, repair materials, welding requirements, and fabrication details to ensure compatibility with service conditions and applicable standards.
  • Work with inspection, operations, maintenance, process engineering, and reliability teams to identify emerging corrosion threats and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Ensure fixed equipment and piping integrity activities comply with Venture Global standards, site procedures, applicable regulatory requirements, and recognized industry codes and standards.
  • Apply relevant industry standards and practices, including API 510, API 570, API 653, API 580/581, API 579 / ASME FFS-1, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and other applicable API, ASME, ANSI, and ISO requirements.
  • Develop, review, and challenge engineering specifications, inspection scopes, repair plans, and vendor technical submissions to ensure technical rigor, regulatory compliance, and practical site execution.
  • Support Management of Change reviews, technical risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and process safety barrier reviews involving fixed equipment and piping integrity.
  • Provide technical input to site procedures, engineering guidelines, inspection practices, and integrity management processes.
  • Identify gaps in existing practices and recommend improvements to strengthen fixed equipment integrity, reliability, and compliance.
  • Support operations and maintenance teams in evaluating abnormal equipment conditions, leaks, vibration-related piping concerns, corrosion findings, pressure boundary damage, and inspection anomalies.
  • Develop technically sound recommendations that balance process safety, regulatory compliance, production risk, equipment life, cost, and execution feasibility.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles as applied to fixed equipment and piping systems in LNG, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Advanced working knowledge of pressure vessels, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, inspection practices, mechanical design principles, materials, metallurgy, corrosion, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, and vibration-related fixed equipment concerns.
  • Ability to use foundational engineering knowledge to lead projects, ensure compliance with company standards and regulations, and support complex troubleshooting and system optimization.
  • Strong understanding of how fixed equipment integrity interacts with process engineering, operations, maintenance, reliability, inspection, civil/structural engineering, and process safety.
  • Advanced knowledge of fixed equipment damage mechanisms, RBI, FFS, inspection planning, NDE methods, corrosion monitoring, CUI, dead legs, condition monitoring locations, corrosion control documents, integrity operating windows, cathodic protection, painting and coating, and settlement concerns.
  • Ability to interpret PCMS data, inspection findings, corrosion data, process history, and materials information to recommend inspection plans, repair actions, and risk-based integrity strategies.
  • Ability to perform Level 1 and Level 2 FFS assessments and facilitate Level 3 assessments performed by specialist contractors or consultants.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including API 510, API 570, API 653, API 580/581, API 579 / ASME FFS-1, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and relevant company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, resolve complex fixed equipment and piping integrity problems, and optimize inspection, repair, and reliability strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency with PCMS or equivalent inspection data management systems.
  • Working knowledge of RBI tools, FFS tools, SAP or equivalent CMMS, process historian tools, document management systems, eMOC systems, and root cause analysis tools.
  • Ability to integrate data from inspection, process, maintenance, reliability, and engineering systems to support business and operational decisions.
  • Ability to use engineering software, spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools to evaluate degradation trends, remaining life, inspection intervals, and equipment risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required.
  • Professional Engineer license, API certification, or other relevant technical credentials preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in LNG, refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience supporting turnarounds, outages, field inspections, pressure boundary repairs, temporary repairs, and equipment replacement projects.
