About the role

The Senior Engineer, Integrated Planning and Solutions will play a crucial role in developing and implementing initiatives and technology that impact the electricity distribution and transmission systems. They will support data and digital asset management, coordinate across technical and business teams, represent the company on industry and regulatory working groups, and engage with stakeholders, government agencies, and media.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a robust basis of design is produced for each scheme, documenting reasons for investment, options considered, costs, and program.
  • Support data and digital asset management development across multiple asset-related digital products to support grid planning, operations, and asset management functions.
  • Represent the company on industry and regulatory working groups as appropriate.
  • Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives.
  • Provide support to other areas of National Grid such as Electric Operations, Regional Control Center, Distribution Planning, Transmission Planning, etc.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and management of new technologies or automation of existing technologies.
  • Engage appropriately with specified stakeholders, government agencies, consenting authorities, and media within the development phases of a project.
  • Input to the development of the engineering perspective of new business concepts.
  • Determine the options to be considered for the project at initiation to satisfy the need case for investment.
  • Complete the definition of technical specifications in relation to a range of technologies.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school is required.
  • 6 years of related experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards, and legislation is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation is preferred.
  • Proactively makes changes to improve performance, efficiency, and effectiveness of processes; for example, challenge existing engineering procedures and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Possesses positive expectations for team members and expresses regard for them.
  • Relative Experience in Programming in Python, C, C++, or similar languages is preferred.
  • Able to motivate, counsel, coach, and develop direct reports and others.
  • Experience establishing clearly defined goals and standards of employee performance.

Pay

$119,000 - $140,000 per year

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
