Job Responsibilities
- Covers changes in packaging materials to enhance operating line speeds and efficiencies while minimizing costs.
- Collaborates with procurement on vendor selection and drives the qualification process, ensuring new materials meet GLC standards and expectations.
- Evaluates, researches, and develops new/alternate materials, processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Sets up and designs new products/packages for customers and production plants.
- Applies operating guidelines and parameters for all packaging run conditions.
- Improves and implements plant efficiencies through equipment automation.
- Standardizes and manages specifications and procedures for packaging and machinery applications to optimize finished product quality and performance.
- Provides solutions for daily packaging-related issues, including materials, supplies, and labor costs.
- Collaborates with the Sales & Marketing teams to lead feasibility studies for new products.
- Supports GLC Packaging Circularity initiatives by facilitating trials on packaging material changes involving reducing, reusing, and composting packaging.
- Maintains and continuously improves the quality and accuracy of GLC Packaging Specification System.
- Coordinates capital projects from concept to implementation through GLC Capital Process.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or Mechanical or similar Engineering field
- 2 years of packaging engineering experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of food packaging
- Ability to communicate with packaging material suppliers, packaging equipment manufacturers, and co-packers
- 50% of travel required
- Must be able to work now or in the future without corporate sponsorship
