About the role
This role is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership, and applying both depth and breadth in technical competencies. The role is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.
A Senior Rates eTrading Development Lead is required to modernize and expand our front office eTrading platforms that support Rates products across multiple lines of businesses globally. This is a hands-on technical leadership role bringing expertise in software engineering best practices, architecting and building low-latency D2C and D2D algos, market data connectivity, execution workflows, internalization, and pricing.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the design and engineering approach for complex features align with the larger portfolio solution.
- Define the technology tool stack for the solution and evaluate/adapt new testing tools, frameworks, and practices for team(s).
- Enable team(s)/applications with Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) capabilities and engage with technical stakeholders to optimize the CI/CD pipeline.
- Guide and influence team(s) on design and best practices for high code performance (e.g., pairing, code reviews).
- Provide end-to-end delivery of complex features, including automation, for single or multiple teams at the program level.
- Conduct research, design prototyping, and exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets and components for release management, CI/CD, and features.
- Work with stakeholders to establish high-level solution needs and with architects for technical requirements.
- Build high-performance, low-latency components for fixed income eTrading and pricing workflows.
- Develop frameworks and core services for real-time order execution, auto-quoting, algo engines, and pricing services, collaborating with quant and algo teams.
- Champion best development practices including agile iterative development, pairing, code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, loosely coupled interface design, and principles for scalability and re-use.
- Refactor and modernize existing code, improving performance, design, and observability metrics of existing and new components.
- Work with technology partners and business groups globally and regionally.
- Collaborate with management, horizontal teams, and stakeholders to define and deliver the strategic roadmap.
- Work with engineers, production support staff, and traders.
Requirements
- Clear, articulate communication skills with the ability to convey ideas, design, and architecture principles.
- Thrives in a collaborative environment and analytically breaks down problems to work through solutions.
- Hands-on Java development and technical leadership experience with demonstrated ability to design, implement, and deploy architecture.
- Engineering, Science, Math degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience as a lead software engineer building electronic trading solutions.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented setting and prioritize effectively across workstreams.
- Highly experienced in leveraging development platforms including Linux, Ansible Tower, Jenkins, Maven, Git/Bitbucket, Artifactory, and automation scripting.
- High proficiency in data architecture, schemas, and data workflows.
- Strong experience in real-time trading system design principles: message-driven, event-based architecture, TCP, UDP, Multicast, low-latency performance, scaling, multithreading, service-oriented interface-driven architecture, and object-oriented design.
Qualifications
- Experience working in Fixed Income eTrading technology, specializing in D2C & D2D electronic execution, algo, and pricing systems (strong plus).
- Experience integrating with APIs and workflows from venues such as CME, Bloomberg, Tradeweb.
- Experience with FIX, FpML protocols.
- Working knowledge of AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., Claude, GPT, Co-Pilot) and ability to incorporate context, skills, and structured prompting to debug and enhance code.
- Experience in algo system design and controls, including kill switches, limits, simulating scenarios, and metrics reporting.
- Knowledge of fixed income products such as government bonds, interest rate swaps, futures (strong plus but not required if experienced with other traded products/systems like Equities or FX).
- Experience with real-time pricing systems and analytic library integration for computing bond or swap prices, yields, dv01, and other market-relevant analytics.
- Experience in trading system re-design migration projects (big plus).

Pay
Pay range: $122,000.00 - $200,000.00 annualized salary. Offers are determined based on experience, education, and skill set. This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan.
