National Grid is hiring Senior Engineers for its Electric Organization, with positions available in Syracuse, Albany, and Buffalo, NY. Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary engineering evaluations, develop project scope and schedule to support business strategy and capital investments.
- Prepare comprehensive written and oral reports of technical challenges, investigative findings, and recommended solutions.
- Interface with internal design staff on construction document development.
- Review drawings associated with projects, including manufacturers' equipment.
- Manage consultant contracted work, ensuring compliance and technical adequacy against company standards and project scope.
- Support construction and project closeout activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil/Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
- A Master's degree or Professional Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) or Engineering (PE) license is preferred for some roles.
- 6+ years of related experience (5+ with Master of Science degree or PE), with specific experience in transmission, distribution, or substation engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of industry standards, safety standards, and current design codes, especially the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation including technical advancements.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills – Electric Standards: Working knowledge of industry standards, safety standards, and existing electrical design codes including but not limited to: substation construction and maintenance practices, electric utility practices, substation materials and equipment, grounding and lightning study analysis, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA 70, ASTM, NEC, and NESC codes.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Willingness to travel for meetings, training, and conferences, including potential extended hours for emergencies or system events.
Pay
$115,000 - $135,000
