This onsite role in Fond du Lac offers a unique, challenging, and rewarding work environment focused on improving the quality, functionality, and performance of Mercury Marine’s current propulsion product line.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues escalated via Customer Priority Requests (CPRs).
  • Conduct, support, and manage mechanical component design and development projects.
  • Provide consultation, support, and expertise in collaboration with the manufacturing team to evaluate and resolve quality issues as well as develop process improvements.
  • Develop component/system test plans, write test requests, and execute, validate, and revalidate product components.
  • Collaborate with and provide directions to CAD designers and test technicians assigned to your design and test projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience supporting complex mechanical products or systems.
  • 2+ years of direct experience interacting with and supporting service and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience supporting current production products and working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, service, supplier quality, and product development teams.
  • Experience developing and executing validation plans.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Advanced knowledge of four-stroke engines and bolted joint construction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with marine propulsion systems, engines, powertrain systems, or similar mechanical products.
  • Experience investigating field failures, warranty concerns, and manufacturing quality issues.
  • Experience with reliability, durability, and validation testing.
  • Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, Six Sigma, DFMEA, or similar tools.
  • Experience or knowledge of the marine/boating industry, including the application of parts within marine environments (saltwater).
  • Experience interpreting test data and failure analysis results to identify root causes.
  • Ability to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Ability to develop and deliver clear, concise communications that convey shared understanding across multiple groups.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in an effective, professional manner.

Pay

The anticipated pay range for this position is $86,500 – $126,800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
