Senior Engineer - Area Manufacturing (PVD/CVD)
About the role
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions. The high-volume manufacturing engineering team plays a key role in keeping Micron’s wafer fabs running safely, efficiently, and at scale. As a senior engineer, you will focus on strengthening physical and chemical vapor deposition (PVD and CVD) area manufacturing performance by reducing operational risk and building stable, predictable capacity. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Process Development, Industrial Engineering, and Operations to lead improvements in cycle time, throughput, and redundancy while supporting ambitious program timelines.
Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve systemic physical and chemical vapor deposition (CVD and PVD) area issues affecting throughput, cycle time, and operational risk, and model capacity planning.
- Drive area performance using clear metrics, risk assessments, and data-informed capital decisions.
- Partner with Industrial Engineering, Process Development, Manufacturing, and Operations cross-functional teams to evaluate and influence capacity scenarios and mitigation plans.
- Analyze operational data to communicate trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Through strong leadership, collaborate with stakeholders to drive projects, lead strategic meetings, and manage capacity.
- Lead safety and quality efforts including audits, good catches, and human QDR follow-up.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a semiconductor Engineering equivalent degree (required).
- Minimum 3+ years of deep industrial engineering experience driving semiconductor equipment capacity planning or semiconductor area process engineering (required).
- Proficiency using SQL, Python, and Tableau for planning and visualization tools.
- Experience supporting Physical and/or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD or PVD) processes including fab capacity planning, floor scheduling, line management systems, and fab operation.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities while leading and influencing in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a semiconductor Engineering equivalent degree.
- Experience developing or deploying area-level operational management tools or techniques.
- Background validating planning assumptions or supporting area-level strategic planning.
- Experience driving consistent manufacturing procedures across cross-functional teams.
- Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.
