About the role

This position is ideal for a well-rounded, driven senior-level Electrical Engineer with a focus on energy storage who thrives in engineering, business development, and project management. The role demands a “seller-doer” mindset, combining high-quality technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. The Energy Storage team serves both utility-scale and commercial/industrial markets, offering experience in battery sizing, use-case evaluation, technology selection, and full detailed design. Current projects range from 1 MW to 500 MW, with interconnection voltages from 480 V to 500 kV, and include standalone storage as well as hybrid systems paired with wind or solar.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate energy storage technologies and advise clients on the best solutions for their applications.
  • Engage in marketing, project development, and proposal creation for energy storage projects.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Develop scope of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans.
  • Prepare engineering cost estimates, man-hour budgets, and project schedules.
  • Perform project management duties on energy storage consulting projects.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer on multi-discipline energy storage construction projects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Prepare or direct the creation of construction documents for electrical systems in energy storage facilities.
  • Develop or oversee equipment specifications, procurement, and factory acceptance testing for batteries, inverters, enclosures, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate design assignments and teams across multiple office locations.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction and commissioning.
  • Travel approximately 20% of the time to client offices and project sites, including potential overseas travel.
  • Demonstrate progressive design and management experience, including knowledge of construction and commissioning.
  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles to solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program, or a Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program plus successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Seven years of electrical engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
  • Strong preference for experience with energy storage in utility-scale and/or large industrial facilities, including battery technology/chemistry selection, battery sizing, one-line development, site arrangements, inverter selection, cable ampacity calculations, grounding, protective relaying, and construction administration.
  • Experience with software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar is preferred.
  • Field construction and commissioning experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous consulting engineering experience is preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Pay

$135,000 – $230,000 yearly. The expected compensation range reflects factors such as individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package includes a base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
