Senior EMS Sourcing Manager
About the role
The Senior Manager of EMS Sourcing plays a critical role in Oura’s supply chain, focusing on Contract Manufacturing relationships, commercial execution, and sourcing strategy. Reporting to the Director of EMS Sourcing, this role collaborates closely with Hardware Engineering, Program Management, Finance, Legal, and Operations.
Responsibilities
Own day-to-day CM relationships across Oura's contract manufacturing base — serving as the primary commercial point of contact for active programs and ensuring Oura is well-positioned at every stage of the engagement.
Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, MVA structures, NRE, tooling, scrap and rework liability, and capacity commitments — with direct accountability for outcomes.
Lead RFP and competitive bid processes for EMS/CM awards — defining sourcing strategies, driving strong supplier participation, evaluating proposals, and creating competitive tension to secure the best overall commercial and operational outcome.
Lead commercial contracting in partnership with Legal for long-term supply and manufacturing agreements — shaping business terms, driving agreement structure, and translating contractual language into clear commercial positions, risk allocation, and operational obligations.
Own post-award contract governance across CM partners — tracking compliance to commercial terms, key obligations, renewals, and amendments, and driving cross-functional follow-through when performance or documentation falls out of alignment.
Build and leverage cost models, benchmarks, and should-cost analyses to inform sourcing decisions, evaluate supplier proposals, and strengthen Oura's negotiating position on vendor awards, product changes, and ongoing cost reduction efforts.
Manage NPI program transitions through CMs — coordinating cross-functionally with Engineering, PMO, and Quality to ensure CM readiness, timeline alignment, and issue resolution.
Develop and maintain a current view of CM partner performance — identifying risks, escalating issues proactively, and driving resolution with appropriate urgency.
Influence cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority — representing sourcing's perspective clearly and driving alignment in rooms with Engineering, Finance, and Program leadership.
Support functional improvement activities as they relate to EMS — including contract compliance, variance documentation, and concentration risk tracking.
Operate effectively in ambiguity — managing competing priorities, incomplete information, and fast-moving program timelines without waiting to be told what to do.
Requirements
5+ years of progressive experience in EMS or CM sourcing, with significant time in senior commercial roles with direct CM accountability.
Demonstrated track record of leading complex CM commercial negotiations — pricing, MVA, capacity, scrap, NRE — with ownership of outcomes.
Strong working relationships with CM contacts at a commercial and operational level; ability to build and maintain trust with CM partners across geographies.
Experience managing NPI programs through contract manufacturers, including cross-functional coordination with Engineering, PMO, and Quality.
Background in high-volume consumer electronics hardware, ideally including wearables, mobile, or similarly complex miniaturized product categories.
High comfort with ambiguity, competing priorities, and fast-moving environments — able to triage and execute without a clear playbook.
Familiarity with both growing and mature company operating environments and associated supply chain documentation requirements, a plus.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to travel 25% of the time, domestically and internationally.
