Senior Employment Counsel

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will serve as a trusted legal partner to the People team, guiding employment matters across the employee lifecycle. You will help shape compliant, practical solutions for a multistate workforce while balancing legal risk, business needs, and employee experience. The position will also handle disputes, investigations, policy work, and training to support sound employment practices across the organization. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $200,000 – $240,000 annually Responsibilities Serve as primary legal advisor to the People team on the full employment lifecycle Manage employment disputes, including pre-litigation claims and employment litigation Oversee internal employment investigations related to harassment and discrimination Provide proactive employment law compliance counsel across a multistate workforce Draft and negotiate employment-related documents and advise on policies Translate legal developments into practical guidance for stakeholders Partner with the People team to maintain employment policies and conduct training Qualifications JD from an accredited law school Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction 8 to 10+ years of legal experience with a focus on employment law across counseling and disputes Prior in-house legal experience preferred Startup or high-growth company experience is a plus Experience managing employment litigation, including directing outside counsel Expertise in California employment law Benefits 401(k) plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 4% and no plan fees Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Generous time off and parental leave policies Access to financial tools and resources for equity understanding and wellness Enhanced mental health support for employees and dependents Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
