Senior Embedded Software Engineer

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software systems for a military aircraft platform. This role involves contributing directly to mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities that enable the performance, safety, and effectiveness of next-generation military aviation systems. You will work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing multi-site team, applying technical principles, theories, and concepts in software development, integration, and testing.
Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must maintain eligibility for access to classified information throughout employment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and test embedded software for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Work in embedded application development environments including Linux (Yocto/RHEL), Windows, and Bare Metal.
- Utilize Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity).
- Perform software integration and testing in lab and hardware environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other software engineers and program development teams.
- Communicate and document complex technical designs effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- C++ development for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity).
- Ability to work onsite 100% of the time.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket).
- Version control and issue tracking (GitLab, Atlassian suite).
- Flight software development experience.
- Proficiency in Python development.
- Familiarity with software requirements development using Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (e.g., Cameo).
- Experience with digital simulation (SIL/MIL/HIL) and closed-loop testing.
- Hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C).
- Experience with Navigation, Guidance, and Control Implementation.
- Experience with Signal Processing Implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Pay
$120,000 - $160,000 + Bonus Eligible
