Senior Embedded Software Engineer

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software systems for military aircraft platforms. This role involves contributing directly to mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities that enable the performance, safety, and effectiveness of next-generation military aviation systems. You will work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing, multi-site team, applying technical principles, theories, and concepts in software development, integration, and testing.
Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and test embedded software for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Work with Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity) and embedded application development in RTOS and Windows environments.
- Utilize communications protocols such as MIL-STD-1553 and Ethernet for software development and integration.
- Perform software integration and testing in lab and hardware environments.
- Update and review software documentation (e.g., SRS/IRS, SDD/IDD, STP, STD, STR).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other software engineers and program development teams.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues.
- Communicate and document complex technical designs effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline.
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Proficiency in C++ for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g., MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity).
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553 and Ethernet communications protocols.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- 100% onsite work in Atlanta, GA.
- 10% travel required.
Preferred Skills
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience with Greenhills ARINC 653/APEX API.
- Software development for Electronic Warfare and Self Protection Systems (e.g., ALQ-213, ALE-47, AN/AAR-47, AN/ALR-56M).
- Familiarity with software requirements development using IBM DOORS.
- CI/CD Pipeline experience.
- Proficiency with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket).
- Version control and issue tracking (GitLab, Atlassian suite).
- Experience with Wireshark and Lua script plugins.
- Knowledge of safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C).
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Pay
$120,000 - $160,000 + bonus eligible.
