About the role

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software systems for military aircraft platforms. This role involves contributing directly to mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities that enable the performance, safety, and effectiveness of next-generation military aviation systems. You will work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing, multi-site team, applying technical principles, theories, and concepts in software development, integration, and testing.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and test embedded software for safety-critical avionics systems.
  • Work with Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity) and embedded application development in RTOS and Windows environments.
  • Utilize communications protocols such as MIL-STD-1553 and Ethernet for software development and integration.
  • Perform software integration and testing in lab and hardware environments.
  • Update and review software documentation (e.g., SRS/IRS, SDD/IDD, STP, STD, STR).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other software engineers and program development teams.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues.
  • Communicate and document complex technical designs effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline.
  • 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ for safety-critical avionics systems.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g., MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity).
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553 and Ethernet communications protocols.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • 100% onsite work in Atlanta, GA.
  • 10% travel required.

Preferred Skills

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience with Greenhills ARINC 653/APEX API.
  • Software development for Electronic Warfare and Self Protection Systems (e.g., ALQ-213, ALE-47, AN/AAR-47, AN/ALR-56M).
  • Familiarity with software requirements development using IBM DOORS.
  • CI/CD Pipeline experience.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket).
  • Version control and issue tracking (GitLab, Atlassian suite).
  • Experience with Wireshark and Lua script plugins.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C).
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Pay

$120,000 - $160,000 + bonus eligible.
