About the Role

As a Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer at our Dayton facility, you will lead all aspects of development within an embedded systems environment. Responsibilities include requirements definition, design capture, debugging, testing, documentation, and—at the most senior level—providing architecture, mentoring, and team leadership. Responsibilities

• Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives.
• Define system architecture based on required functionality.
• Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes.
• Write and analyze requirements, developing design alternatives.
• Influence future products by contributing to architectural frameworks used across multiple systems.
• Design, develop, and test new embedded hardware; support and enhance existing hardware.
• Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement.
• Develop test procedures and execute verification testing.
• Generate complete and accurate user and design documentation.
• Perform and coordinate analyses supporting detailed design of components, assemblies, software, and systems.
• Design high-speed hardware, including schematic capture and layout.
• Review and validate high-speed designs and layouts.
• Evaluate new technologies and products.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses.
• Provide task breakdowns and accurate estimates for project planning.
• Mentor junior engineering staff.
• Foster a positive and productive team atmosphere.
• Liaise with customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Strong sense of responsibility, commitment to quality, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of computer engineering processes and standards.
• Ability to understand, break down, and analyze system-level requirements.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts and systematic problem-solving.
• Familiarity with rugged/embedded technologies used in defense/aerospace.
• Ability to resolve complex engineering problems efficiently.
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Experience leading debug, integration, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Skills

The following experience is an asset:

• Embedded hardware knowledge and experience with processor systems (Intel, ARM, PIC, Atmel, NXP).
• Strong knowledge of hardware interfaces and buses (Ethernet, PCIe, PCI, Fibre Channel, I2C, SPI, USB).
• Validation and production test methodologies.
• Reading and understanding IC datasheets and board schematics.
• Use of diagnostic tools (Digital Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, DVMs, etc.).
• Project management.
• FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL.
• Hardware design with Altium.
• Cybersecurity and NIAP Common Criteria.

Pay

Salary range: $105,000 – $150,000 per year plus bonus. The range is a general guideline for a position based in Ohio and may vary based on candidate qualifications, relevant experience, position scope, and market considerations.
