Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leader in HVAC and smart control systems, is seeking a dedicated and innovative Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their dynamic team in Waller, Texas (onsite). Locals who can work on a W2 basis are highly preferred; any visa is acceptable provided the consultant has hands‑on experience. The position offers an immediate start with the potential for a 3‑month contract‑to‑hire arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for HVAC and smart control systems using Embedded C/C++.
• Implement and optimize embedded applications utilizing Zephyr RTOS, ensuring high reliability and performance.
• Develop and troubleshoot Modbus RTU/TCP communication interfaces for seamless device interoperability.
• Perform embedded system testing, debugging, and automation to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.
• Integrate hardware and software components, including microcontroller architecture, peripherals, and communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Embedded C/C++ programming and embedded firmware development.
• Hands‑on experience with Zephyr RTOS and embedded system debugging tools.
• Expertise in Modbus RTU/TCP communication protocols and troubleshooting communication issues.
• Strong understanding of hardware/software integration, including microcontroller peripherals and board bring‑up.
• Familiarity with version control tools like Git and CI/CD pipelines for embedded projects.
