About the role
As a Senior Electrical Power Engineer, you will support the design, engineering, procurement, and product life cycle management of large-scale custom manufactured industrial equipment with a focus on 3 Phase Power Distribution.
Responsibilities
- Design and engineer 3-phase electrical power systems, including 480 VAC and medium-voltage applications
- Develop, review, and modify electrical design documents using AutoCAD Electrical (preferred), including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, panel schedules, and cable/conduit schedules
- Perform conductor and raceway sizing in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Specify, size, and select electrical power distribution equipment, including switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), panelboards, transformers, and related components
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical designs
- Review and interpret client specifications; recommend design adjustments to improve system performance and compliance
- Evaluate and review vendor proposals to verify compliance with technical and project requirements
- Apply knowledge of applicable industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE 519) to ensure compliant system design and power quality
- Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to electrical systems
- Lead or support electrical engineering efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Serve as a technical point of contact for assigned projects and communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and vendors
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, proposals, and presentations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide guidance and training to less-experienced engineers and review work products for accuracy and quality
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required
- A candidate that is a registered Professional Engineering and has their license in Colorado is highly desired
- Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in electrical engineering is required
- Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and/or oil and gas environments is strongly preferred
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems promptly
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Strong computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs are required
- AutoCAD drafting experience beyond a basic level is preferred
- Experience developing drawings for fabrication of wireway systems is preferred
- Experience using SKM, or ETAP electrical design and study software is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is preferred
- Excellent Communication skills; both oral and written are required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required
- Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows are required
