About the role

The power generation market is experiencing significant growth driven by strong capacity demand signals. Our national Power Generation team is poised for substantial expansion, and we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams in developing, contracting, and implementing natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects
  • Support clients in Owner’s Engineering and/or Advisor roles
  • Mentor young engineers and support in managing client relationships
  • Lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development
  • Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members
  • Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
  • Manage project reviews with management as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design
  • Experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
  • Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm
  • Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team
  • Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and experience with other activities such as lighting and grounding design, including instrumentation and control and life safety systems
  • Less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software

Skills

  • Experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems
