About the role

The power generation market is experiencing significant growth driven by strong capacity demand signals. Our national Power Generation team is poised for substantial expansion, and we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams for power generation design projects including support in Owner’s Engineering and/or Advisor roles.
  • Design power plant systems, including simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
  • Develop construction and equipment specifications, and manage balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems.
  • Mentor young engineers and support in managing client relationships.
  • Write proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to RFPs.
  • Lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to RFPs.

  • Manage project reviews with management as needed.
  • Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design.
  • Experience with power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Skills

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team.
  • Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
  • Significant level of design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. HDR is committed to providing fair and competitive compensation packages.
