About the role
The power generation market is growing and evolving, driven by strong capacity demand signals. Our national Power Generation team is poised for significant growth and is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our clients in developing, contracting, and implementing natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams for power generation design projects, including supporting in a traditional Owner’s Engineering role.
- Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
- Support in managing client relationships and leading marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development.
- Mentor young engineers and act as a lead on multi-discipline consulting teams.
- Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and manage project reviews with management as needed.
- Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed.
- Manage less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software.
- Achieve Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Exhibit excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
- Show strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team.
- Show extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and experience with other activities such as lighting and grounding design, including instrumentation and control and life safety systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience.
Skills
- Experience within the utility scale power and renewable energy industry.
- Capable of leading teams for power generation design projects.
- Extensive experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems.
