Senior Electrical Power Engineer
About the role
The power generation market is growing and evolving, driven by strong capacity demand signals. Our national Power Generation team is poised for significant growth and is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our clients in developing, contracting, and implementing natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams for power generation design projects including supporting in a traditional Owner’s Engineering role.
- Support in managing client relationships and leading marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals.
- Mentor young engineers and act as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team or as a lead on a small team.
- Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed.
- Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.
Requirements
- A significant level of design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems is required.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design.
- Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
- Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired.
- Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team.
- Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and experience with other activities such as lighting and grounding design, including instrumentation and control and life safety systems.

Schedule
The position will include an expectation of less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits.
