Senior Electrical Estimator - Fort Lauderdale
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess potential risks and opportunities.
- Ensure comprehensive understanding and accurate interpretation of project requirements.
- Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates using specialized software.
- Include all necessary materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs in the estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors.
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Identify potential risks associated with project estimates.
- Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to refine project estimates.
- Provide technical support and advice on electrical cost matters.
- Prepare and validate change order estimates.
- Communicate any changes in project scope and cost implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and present detailed estimate reports.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, adjustments, and historical cost data.
- Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
- Analyze competitor pricing strategies and market conditions.
- Implement quality control measures in the estimating process.
- Review estimates for completeness and accuracy before submission.
- Participate in post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement in the estimating process.
- Implement best practices and innovative estimating techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical estimating for construction projects.
- Proficiency in electrical estimating software and MS Office Suite.
- Proficiency with Accubid Classic, Live Count On screen take-off and other Trimble software products.
- Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
