About the role

We are seeking a talented Senior Electrical and I&C Estimator to develop construction cost estimates for buildings/vertical construction, water/wastewater, pump stations, and power projects. You will apply practical field experience and constructability expertise to conceptual estimates when minimal design drawings and information are available. We value collaboration and believe in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. Our Hybrid working policy allows you to split your work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations. Qualified candidates must reside within the United States and will be assigned to the nearest Jacobs office within 50 miles for our Hybrid working policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and detailed construction cost estimates for all electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems.
  • Interpret plans and specifications from multiple design phases (program, conceptual, design development through 100% Construction Documents and change orders) to generate quantity takeoffs and pricing for all systems.
  • Familiarity with techniques, procedures, methods, and the nature of applicable civil, structural, and architectural construction systems.
  • Develop work breakdown structures for complex projects to provide clear and logical cost estimates.
  • Write Basis of Estimate to accurately describe the estimating methodology and assumptions.
  • Generate quantity takeoffs and calculate costs using labor rates, production rates, material pricing schedules, and historical data.
  • Collect cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Understand construction market trends and their implications for estimating.
  • Contribute to risk analysis, value engineering, and constructability exercises.
  • Prepare and maintain historical cost data.
  • Create cost models for estimating elements.
  • Assist lead estimator with reporting functions and assembly of project deliverables.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of electrical/Instrumentation and controls estimating experience in a related industry.
  • Proficiency in standard office computer systems such as MS Project, PDF file editor programs, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to perform a quality Quantity Survey from available documents and apply cost factors to calculate a unit price.
  • Experience in conceptual estimating.
  • Working knowledge of codes in the electrical/I&C discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet client deadlines.
  • Ability to foresee events, anticipate changes, and respond proactively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from the oil and gas industry.
  • Past experience with “Hard Bid” general contractor estimating.
  • Past experience with actual construction of electrical installations.
  • Knowledge of Sage Estimating software.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $140,000.00 to $175,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
