We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) with expertise in Advanced Technology Facilities Sustaining Projects to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead multiple, simultaneous complex electrical projects, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical expertise to ensure the delivery of innovative and reliable power distribution solutions for our industrial clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering leadership to grow our electrical engineering services and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Ensure electrical engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and studies are conducted according to IEEE, NFPA standards, and Shermco excellence.
- Review and approve ongoing and completed engineering work, ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy and high quality.
- Conduct onsite visits to customer locations to gather critical information, resolve project issues, address customer concerns, and review engineering plans.
- Collaborate with sales and support staff on estimating and bidding new projects; co-present project proposals to prospective customers.
- Lead and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, structural engineers, and architects.
- Develop detailed design drawings and construction documents for facilities projects, including 480V and below system design, UPS, generator, switchgear bus, and other distribution systems.
- Create detailed electrical diagrams such as one-lines, three-lines, and control schematics.
- Prepare executive-level presentations and project budgets.
- Perform redundancy, reliability, and load calculation projections.
- Prepare detailed system operations documents for data center and similar electrical systems.
- Develop and execute project commissioning plans and scripts with support from technical staff; complete commissioning documentation and reports.
- Perform short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, arc-flash analysis, and load flow calculations to ensure system safety and reliability.
- Design and modify electrical distribution systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, breakers, fuses, and transformers.
- Create, review, and revise complete electrical packages and specifications.
- Lead engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams, clients, and contractors to define project requirements and expectations.
- Diagnose electrical system issues and develop effective, practical solutions to resolve system deficiencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with experience focused on Facilities Power Systems; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- At least 5 years of engineering experience in facilities power systems system design.
- Experience with low voltage equipment for power distribution.
- Proficiency in applying NEC, NFPA70E, and local codes.
- Experience in short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, motor starting, and power quality studies.
- Experience using power system software such as SKM, ETAP, or other power system modeling tools.
- Knowledge of proper drafting techniques and experience using AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and extract information from project plans and specifications.
- Excellent technical writing, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; comfortable interacting directly with customers and coworkers.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Availability for periodic domestic travel.
Pay
USD $102,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 per year.
