At AES, you’ll be part of a collaborative engineering community within the Asplundh Infrastructure Group, working across the full lifecycle of critical utility projects—from concept and design, through construction and commissioning, all the way to maintaining in-service assets. What You’ll Do
- The conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded medium voltage and high voltage systems including:
- Electrical Arrangement
- Electrical Sections (Elevations)
- Electrical Connection Details
- Below Grade Conduit Plan and Details
- Cable Trench Plan and Details
- Equipment Grounding Plan and Details
- Lightning Protection Plan
- Outdoor Illumination Plan
- Detailed Bill of Material
- Electrical Grounding Specification
- Purchase of equipment
- Design and construction estimates
- Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals
- Leading, planning, and coordinating projects with limited supervision
- Understanding and delivering results based on client specific standards and requirements
- Training and developing junior personnel
- Leading project teams and interfacing with the customer to deliver a quality product by scheduled delivery date
- Maintain and update engineering standards to ensure high quality products
- Aid with Project management to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Work with Clients, Salesman, Managers and Engineers to coordinate project designs
- Work with sub-consultant(s) to coordinate deliverables
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in high and medium voltage design engineering
- Knowledge of applicable NEC, NESC, and IEEE/ANSI standards
- Design experience in transmission, substation, distribution, or generation
- Experience with electrical equipment such as: MV and LV switchgear, pad mount transformers, Station Class Transformers, panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverter, battery, battery chargers, disconnect switches, surge arrestors, dead front disconnect switch, medium voltage cable, low voltage cable, control cable, fiber optic cable
- Proficiency in computers using Microsoft programs AutoCAD & REVIT experience
- Project management software experience
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Education & Credentials
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Engineer in Training (EIT) professional certification, Registered PE preferred

Compensation & Pay Transparency
The posted compensation for this position will vary based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and geographic location, and will be determined in accordance with applicable pay equity and wage transparency laws. For candidates in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Minnesota, this range reflects the good-faith compensation the company reasonably expects to pay under applicable state transparency laws. Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan, profit sharing, and benefits.
