Senior Electrical Engineer - Mission Critical (Kansas City)

Responsibilities

• Designs electrical systems/equipment to ensure a reliable and safe environment for mission critical applications.
• Advises clients on electrical systems and requirements to meet their needs and comply with applicable codes.
• Maintains compliance with designed equipment/systems during installations.
• Conducts fault studies and load flow analysis to ensure system efficiency.
• Develops design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.
• Develops and leads the design of electrical master plans for facilities including reliable power distribution, motor control centers, energy-efficient lighting systems, communications and telecom routing, HVAC instrumentation and controls, fire-alarm interfaces, UPS systems, and engine generators.
• Reviews electrical designs and specifications for equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated.
• Manages electrical design direction and resource allocation on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Develops concept studies, designs, and narratives for projects.
• Identifies, recruits, and manages resources to meet business needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program, or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 7 years electrical engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred.
• Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Strong computer skills necessary for electrical designs, including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit).
• Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
• Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, analytical problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
• Ability to travel (10% of the time).
