Senior Electrical Engineer - Healthcare
About the role
P2S|CMTA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Long Beach or Irvine, CA. This role offers a competitive salary range of $150,000–$190,000, based on experience, and the opportunity to participate in an annual performance-based bonus.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support all phases of engineering projects—from proposal development through construction completion—on projects that may include a mix of commercial and institutional buildings or be dedicated exclusively to healthcare facilities.
- Apply advanced design principles, perform complex calculations and modeling, and prepare construction estimates and specifications.
- Manage project budgets, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to business development efforts.
- Pre-Design Engineering:
- Review existing as-built drawings.
- Perform field investigations.
- Set up drawings and models for multiple disciplines.
- Cook up design schedules and deliverables.
- Conduct feasibility studies.
- Prepare schematic designs.
- Design Engineering:
- Create power single line and riser diagrams.
- Perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKM.
- Design low voltage and medium voltage infrastructure.
- Design for electrical equipment (substation, switchboard, transformer, panelboard) replacement projects.
- Understand and utilize CAD/BIM standards.
- Have a working knowledge of National Electrical Code and Energy Standards to design electrical systems.
- Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) for electrical design.
- Coordinate among different disciplines, such as mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural.
- Work in close contact with the entire design team.
- Experience with low-voltage building systems (fire alarm, security, voice/data, nurse call) is a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- LEED accreditation is a plus.
- PE license is a plus.
- 10+ years of electrical design experience in healthcare or commercial buildings.
- Strong understanding of healthcare codes and standards.
- Experience using NEC, AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit.
- Familiarity with: California Building Code and National Electrical Code, HCAI/OSHPD standards, Net Zero Energy/Carbon design (a plus).
- Experience with project management (preferred).

Pay
The salary range for this role is $150,000–$190,000, based on experience. The exact pay will be determined based on relevant job-related factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as geographic and market considerations.
Schedule
This role is offered on a hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote.
Location
This role can be located in either Long Beach or Irvine, CA.
