Overview
Join our team as a Senior Electrical Engineer-Control Panel Design!
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and follow industry, Matrix, and client safety practices and procedures.
- Helps supervise and direct the site team on safety issues.
- Helps develop safety guidelines specific to your area of expertise.
- Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Learn and follow Matrix's Standards and Procedures. Mentors others in the use of them. Participate in the scrutiny and continuous improvement of Matrix's Standards and Procedures.
- Learn and follow Matrix's Project Methodology.
- Prepare project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, and cost estimates. Assist in gathering field data and preparing project specifications. Report project performance.
- Design and develop electrical control packages based on the project needs and process design documentation (typically P&IDs).
- Apply the NEC and UL standards related to the project subject matter.
- Act as the point of contact between the electrical discipline, other internal disciplines, and the client throughout the design process to ensure that all of the client's needs are met.
- Develop PLC I/O schematics.
- Develop Panel Layouts and Bill of Materials for applications.
- Develop three line diagrams for motor circuits.
- Develop cable schedules and conduit layouts if required by the project.
- Develop construction scopes of work for installation contractors.
- Work with installation contractors during the installation.
- Assist clients with on-site bid walks for contractors.
- Assist in field start-ups and I/O checks by travelling to client locations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers.
Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without employer sponsorship.
- Minimum of six years of previous experience as an electrical engineer.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEE/BSEET) from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- EPC project experience preferred.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineering (PE) certification preferred.
- Basic AutoCAD schematic drawing or electrical package development experience.
- Experience with AC & DC motor drives, I/O hardware, MCCs, and industrial control networks preferred.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards, specifically NFPA. Knowledge of UL508A is a plus.
- Variated industrial background is a plus. Key industries include food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to travel, both locally and overnight, approximately 20-25%.

- The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- This employee may perform industrial field work, which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.
