Senior Electrical Engineer - Buildings

Responsibilities

• Work on projects of high complexity, leading a team or project through all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Lead the technical aspects of projects, including the selection and engineering of electrical systems and products.
• Prepare and review project specifications and construction documents across various phases of a project.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other consultants to ensure project success.
• Develop and maintain new standards and specifications for the electrical engineering group.
• Conduct field work to review existing facility conditions and prepare design documents.
• Provide technical expertise and client consultation, integrating design elements with other disciplines.
• Maintain current knowledge of technologies and trends relevant to the project and market types.
• Implement sustainable design principles throughout the project.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
• Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NFPA Standards, International Building Codes, and Applicable Energy Codes.
• Ability to lead multiple projects and design teams, maintaining project execution excellence and schedule.
• Ability to recognize and address technical problems, providing timely corrective actions.
• Ability to check and review the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to give direction and feedback to senior and junior engineers and designers.
• Ability to lead collaboration and engage in creative and critical thought.
• Ability to develop sketches, drawings, and other design materials.
• Ability to perform calculations and produce reports and studies.
• Ability to produce project-specific technical specifications independently.
• Experience in healthcare, laboratory, and industrial facilities is advantageous but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with a lighting/electrical emphasis required.
• Minimum 15 years of related professional experience.
• Professional Engineering license required.
• LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.

Skills

• Strong understanding of power distribution systems, lighting systems, and low voltage systems.
• Experience in construction administration roles.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to apply sustainable design principles.
• Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with low voltage systems such as telecommunications, security, and fire alarm.
