Key Responsibilities
- Perform design review of electrical drawings, studies, and equipment specifications, contributing engineering input on up to 30% of overall electrical design
- Manage and coordinate outside engineering firms to ensure design deliverables meet project timelines, technical standards, and SunEnergy1 quality expectations
- Conduct quality assurance on electrical installations, including substations, transmission lines, and collection systems
- Develop and review equipment specifications in support of procurement and construction activities
- Travel to job sites as needed (up to 20%) to support design verification, construction quality oversight, and field coordination
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and construction, to support on-time project delivery
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 5–7 years of professional experience, or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 3–5 years of professional experience
- Demonstrated experience with design review, including drawings, technical studies, equipment specifications, and electrical design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Prominent ability to manage and direct the work of outside engineering firms
- Experience performing quality assurance on electrical installations, including substations, transmission lines, and collection systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain PE licensure within one year of hire
- Able to travel up to 20% of the time to job sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, or renewable energy infrastructure
- Familiarity with high-voltage substation design (138 kV and above) and protection relaying
- Working knowledge of interconnection processes, including MISO, PJM, ERCOT, or other regional transmission organizations
