Senior Electrical Engineer

Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to work in Bellingham or Sedro-Woolley, WA, Chicago, IL, or remotely in the US. Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcor® system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. Responsibilities
- Lead the development of electrical systems for medium-sized industrial plants (~$150M to $200M) through FEL/FEED/Detail Design and Construction phases, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Provide technical leadership on power distribution system design, including single-line diagrams, load flow studies, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and equipment sizing for medium-sized industrial plants.
- Oversee the specification, selection, procurement, and installation of power distribution equipment, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and circuit protection systems across medium-voltage (1KV to 35 KV) and low-voltage systems (1KV or less).
- Manage the selection and implementation of motor controls (single/multi-phase starters, soft starters, and VFDs).
- Create and review detailed construction documents for equipment manufacturers and electrical contractors.
- Ensure compliance with UL508A, NFPA 79, and NEC (NFPA 70) standards for machinery and site installations.
- Serve as a mentor and technical advisor to junior engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines.
- Collaborate with Sedron’s project delivery team, equipment manufactures, and construction contractors.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency practices, including adherence to 5S and HazMat standards.
- Solve complex technical challenges with creativity and innovation, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
- Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team, communicating and collaborating with technicians and engineers alike.
- Display passion and excitement for solving difficult yet exciting tasks.
- Arrive to work on time and maintain good attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 10+ years of industry experience in electrical engineering for industrial plants, with a strong emphasis on power distribution systems and project development through FEL/FEED/Detail Design and Construction phases.
- Proven expertise in power distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, and protective relaying for medium-sized industrial facilities.
- Deep understanding of electrical codes and standards (UL508A, NFPA 79, NEC/NFPA 70).
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through commissioning.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills for complex electrical and control systems.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar power systems analysis software is preferred; experience with Eplan or equivalent electrical CAD tools is a plus.

Pay
The compensation range for this role is between $120,000 - $160,000 annually. This role may qualify for a discretionary bonus, recognizing outstanding contributions to team and company success.
Schedule
This role requires approximately 10% travel to support Sedron facilities.
