About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Professional Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team and lead the design of electrical systems for complex water and wastewater utility projects. You’ll collaborate with local and remote teammates, drive innovative solutions, and ensure the high-quality deliverables our clients expect. This role focuses on electrical distribution systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process treatment structures and buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities, from planning studies to final design.
  • Lead preparation of contract documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Develop and review electrical equipment drawings, specifications, and approve vendor submittals.
  • Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination.
  • Conduct field visits and site investigations for public and private clients.
  • Provide construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, change order reviews, and preparation of record drawings.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations.
  • Develop basis of design reports and technical memorandums.
  • Mentor junior staff and support internal and external business opportunities.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while ensuring quality control and assurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to be licensed in multiple states.
  • 10 years of experience in professional design and preparing contract documents for complex electrical systems associated with water projects.
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, batteries, and control schematics.
  • Solid understanding of applicable industry electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA requirements.
  • Hands-on knowledge of electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options.
  • Experience with electrical system testing, commissioning, and arc flash studies.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program experience (BIM is a plus).
  • Instrumentation and Control system design experience.
  • Experience with industrial PLC hardware implementation (Allen Bradley, Modicon, Siemens).
  • Experience with LEED certification or similar sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems like wind and solar.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $145,000.00 to $195,000.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
