Responsibilities

• Independently perform a variety of assignments involving the application of standard electrical design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project.
• Exercise independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications.
• Set assignments that have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
• Maintain clear knowledge of HEAPY Corporate Vision, Mission, and Core Values and demonstrate awareness of how those objectives relate to all position responsibilities.
• Approach all assigned tasks as an opportunity for growth and experience, modeling the way for other team members.

• Design engineering services following Corporate Vision, Mission, and Core Values as well as Corporate ISO Systems View(s), related professional standards, client requirements, and corporate objectives.
• Collaborate with more experienced engineering colleagues to prepare basic plan details and outlines, cost estimates, and perform calculations in support of broader engineering activities involving the design of electrical equipment, components, or systems.
• Lay out full plan designs, plan details and outlines, identify quantities of materials, cost estimates, and perform calculations for a detailed segment of a project.
• Prepare technical specifications for review and approval.
• Evaluate vendors’ bids and drawings to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Review and approve electrical design drawings for assigned segment of project.
• Assist with development of design guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures when directed by Practice Technical Leader.
• Prepare technical reports such as life cycle cost analysis, facility conditions assessments, and other engineering guidance for clients.
• Perform field tests & measurements, collect field data, as necessary.
• Aid and support proposal teams or proposal managers as requested.
• Collaborate with and support Design Engineers / Designer I & II colleagues on their technical development and professional growth.
• Collaborate with field observation colleagues to perform field observations and tests, measurements, collect field data, and prepare field reports and related documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Typically 10+ years’ related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience/advanced degree in engineering) related to electrical engineering systems in the Built Environment.
• Considerable experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated electrical engineering and design equipment.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification.
• Working toward Professional Engineering (PE) Registration, which should be attained within the first 2 years of attaining this position level.
