About the role

A company dedicated to construction, engineering, manufacturing, and renewable energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Product Engineering team in Menasha, WI. The ideal candidate will support the design and qualification of electrical components, sub-systems, multi-level assemblies, and system architecture for products in the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data center markets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to designers and less experienced engineers in design activities
  • Reviews technical drawings and electrical specifications to ensure proper application of products within electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Supports the design of electrical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, wire harness creation, assembly design and installation
  • Performs complex design calculations to ensure design compliance with project requirements or reviews others work for correctness
  • Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed
  • Produces relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, electrical schematics, electrical component prints, electrical assemblies, and compliance documents
  • Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis
  • Supports the creation of 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components
  • Supports the creation of complex 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies
  • Develops product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity and configurability of products
  • Prepares Bills of Materials and prepares Change Notices to release components and assemblies
  • Supports costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level
  • Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products
  • Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards
  • Provides technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed
  • Works with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs
  • Serves as a resource for service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Design experience with low voltage electrical circuits and PLC controllers
  • Electrical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience

Preferred

  • 8 years of product design experience preferred
  • Design experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry preferred
  • Design experience with programming languages and controls software preferred
  • Manufacturing and field support experience preferred
  • Proven ability to lead designers and other engineers preferred

Work Schedule

This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.
