Senior Electrical Engineer

In this role, you will be part of the Engineering Team within the Oil & Gas and Chemical Sector, based in the Houston, Texas office. Responsibilities

• Mentor electrical designer-level staff on their responsibilities.
• Ensure the firm’s engineering quality levels for the discipline on assigned projects.
• Oversee the development of design concepts by Designers, ensuring proper application and execution.
• Verify Designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Apply EXP’s risk management practices of electrical engineering.
• Lead the design team to produce engineering/construction documents that meet project requirements within allocated schedule and budget.
• Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting requirements or difficult coordination.
• Perform front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects.
• Write studies and reports for Electrical systems on projects.
• Contribute to revisions of EXP’s design standards and master specifications.
• Evaluate Value Engineering (cost-cutting) items with respect to risk levels.
• Edit and develop basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
• Develop electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
• Participate in HAZOP, PHA, and safety reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
• Fifteen (15) years of experience in the oil, gas, or chemical industries.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
• Ability to manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
