About the Role
Design and support new product development from concept through production release, including design reviews and first-article verification. This role blends hands-on circuit and PCB design with cross-functional collaboration, rigorous verification, and clear documentation—delivering reliable, production-ready hardware that meets specification, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Create electrical designs for AC/DC battery chargers, rectifiers, and related power conversion equipment across product lines.
- Evaluate power semiconductors and components to ensure devices operate in harsh conditions including heat, cold, flooding, and wind.
- Team with firmware and systems engineers to define hardware-software interfaces and product requirements.
- Provide field support and troubleshooting for issues ranging from single chargers to complete integrated systems: breaker trips, ground faults, load-share imbalances, and communication errors.
- Diagnose root causes and drive corrective actions.
- Guide sales, technical support, quality, and manufacturing teams on product capabilities.
- Produce production-ready schematics, BOMs, ECRs, interface specifications, and revision notes, maintaining clean revision control throughout the product lifecycle.
- Apply UL, CSA, NEC, and IEEE 2405 standards to new designs and support certification submissions and third-party testing.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure product documentation is updated.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
- Expertise in power electronics and power conversion with UL and/or CSA regulatory compliance programs.
- Background in technical support or field troubleshooting of power systems.
- Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals: AC/DC and DC/DC conversion, rectifier topologies, battery charging algorithms, and thermal management.
- Working knowledge of UL, CSA (C22.2, Std. 286), NEC, and IEEE 2405 as they apply to industrial power equipment.
Benefits
- Fun and collaborative work environment recognized as a Top Place to Work.
- Progressive senior leadership team and ongoing expansion projects.
- Competitive salaries and employee benefits exceeding industry expectations, including a chef-prepared free lunch.
Pay
Annual salary range: $145,000 – $175,000 USD.
