Senior EKG Technician

About the Role
This position performs prescribed non-invasive cardiovascular procedures and stress testing. The role involves analyzing data during recordings to ensure validity and interpretability, optimizing patient care and treatment. The technician ensures accurate and readable recordings, troubleshoots minor issues, and prepares recordings for interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Performs prescribed standard non-invasive cardiovascular procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Analyzes, identifies, and documents procedures to maximize patient outcomes.
- Ensures accurate and readable recordings; troubleshoots minor problems and makes adjustments during procedures.
- Collects and reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information to perform appropriate studies as prescribed by physicians.
- Assists with improving department processes, facilitating testing, and maintaining quality for optimal patient results.
- Works directly with physicians as the technical expert on non-invasive testing applications, including initial and continued training on clinical applications, upgrades, and computerized charting/order entry.
- May assist in patient scheduling and equipment maintenance.
- Handles departmental daily charges and may assist in charge recovery.
- Participates in the education and training of new employees, peers, students, and other staff.
- Must obtain certification as a Cardiographic Technician from a recognized credentialing agency within 18 months of hire or hold a bachelor's degree in a related clinical field.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an EKG Technician within a hospital setting.
- Completion of courses in EKG and 12-Lead; proof of certification or course completion required.
- Clinical knowledge typically achieved with one year of experience performing non-invasive cardiology procedures.
- Effective communication skills, human relations skills, basic mathematical skills, and the ability to analyze data and solve problems.
Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an EKG Technician within a hospital setting (clearly reflected in your resume).
- BLS Certification.
Schedule
Full time; 3 shifts of 13 hours each. Weekend and holiday rotations required.
